When Bill and Shirlene met they discovered their mutual love for the arts, especially taking photographs. This is still true today after 15 years of marriage and capturing images that attract them.
Shirlene has been an artist for most of her adult life. She studied art and worked as a graphics artist illustrating catalogs. Oil painting is now her passion. Her current focus is on painting faces, especially their three grandchildren Benjamin, Jordyn and Timothy.
Bill has enjoyed photography most of his life. After seeing Gary Collings work, Bill was inspired to try less traditional photographic processes. His current focus is on capturing images of textures, sun light and shadows inside their home.

For me, photography is an ongoing process of discovering myself and how I choose to capture what I both see and imagine. I look at a photographic subject as a piece of music written for the piano, and then I select my own instrument to play it with. I have tried many instruments. This led me to experiment with digital manipulations, emulsion lifts, and the Holga camera. They act as my cello or dulcimer. I still enjoy conventional photography, but I discover more about myself with each new instrument I use.
When I was in my twenties, I made my 1st trip to Europe. It was great fun as well as low-budget (we used the Europe on $5 a Day book). I was captivated by the inexpensive (cheap) art reproductions that were sold on the street. They were mostly watercolors and sketches and I started buying them.
I was so drawn to them that I started sketching and taking art classes when I came home. My current love is oil painting...I especially like faces and patterns. Even though I'm still learning and developing my skills, it feels like I've just started and have a long way to go.
It continues to be a wonderful, fulfilling journey!
